HELP! BC184L and BC214L???

Take a look at Sture's schematic post. It looks like in fact they do use 2 sets of transducers. Maybe there are other ways, but these guys seem to have taken the simpler approach...

Ya gotta look closer! under the top receive section, it says '100 kHz TVG amp' and the bottom it says '500 kHz TVG amp'


Also, by 'dynamic' Sture means dynamic range (I believe) which is the ratio of your largest acceptable signal to your smallest. Because close objects will return a loud ping that will be orders of magnitude larger than the return from a distant object, you need a wide dynamic range.


So to put it simply, high bandwidth = more details, high dynamic range = longer sonar range.

The FGM-3h should not be used for the gradiometer circuit because the FGM-3h will saturate and become useless unless it is kept in an east-west position. Please only use the FGM-3 in Carl's circuit.

To answer your other question, I've tried the 4013 both ways, and it works best with a Schmitt trigger. Especially on the clock input to the 4013; the rise time of the pulse from the FGM-3 isn't sharp enough and the chip I used overheated. I used a 4093 on both FGM-3 outputs.

It would help to know which circuit you are inquiring about, but generally that would refer to the common point between two voltage polarities. For example, if you had a circuit that required both a positive and a negative 9-Volt battery supply, the "battery center-tap" would be the location where the positive lead of one battery is connected to the negative lead of the other.

bc 547 bc557 are a pair also but are not bce they are ecb flat down
