If you are in trouble looking for plastic screws and nuts, this could be a nice and cheap solution.
I’m pretty sure that in every hardware store you can find spare parts for TOILET SEAT (…).
You’ll get two sets like the one you see in the first picture.
The second picture shows your goal.
You just need to cut the screw at the desired length and use both the butterfly nuts.
Cheap and effective, it works great!

Hah! Noemio you saved the day with your plastic screws tip! I looked all over, couldn't find anything until saw your tip.
Photos are of crazy nulling machine for experiments. Each coil is mounted on separate plexiglass sheet, attached with cable ties through drilled holes. One plastic screw is in upper left corner for pivot. Other plastic screw is part of worm gear in lower right corner to move the coils tiny amount. The nut for the screw is glued in a plastic wall hook with adhesive backing stuck to top plexiglass. Wood support for screw is stuck with silicone bathtub caulk to bottom plexiglass. Not shielded yet for experiments.
Now I have to sit very carefully on seat with missing screws ...
Sorry pictures too big, trying to edit them...

Have you a parachute there ?You could experiment base jumping from the seat?
BTW... if you have problems locating plastic screws look at some hardware store... the ones that have stuff for boats and the like too. You can find not only steel stuff but also all nylon made... cause on boats it's easy there are that things cause of corrosion on simple stuff like iron stuff.;)
Another source is here... also model stores have them often.

What about the guy who has to fix his toilet?
It's just for a while, with his new MD he'll be able to find a big treasure an get enough money to buy even a golden toilet seat....!
Happy to see that my suggestion has been useful for somebody.
For simonbaker: nice, nice job!!
