View Full Version : coil program
hi again---
how did the coil/circuit programs mentioned a little
down on list (forum) work out.....
thanks again

First, it's compiled and copyrighted so it is not something I can distribute. Second, it is a demo version and intentionally gives you the wrong answer unless you register the program, although all features are functional. Third, it appears to be valid only for long solenoidal coils but I cannot check the math as it gives the wrong answer (!!!).
I will (eventually, sigh...) write up a web-based coil calculator and post it. Or maybe someone else if they have more time than me! (hint)

thanks respond----
if me knew how would help--only z80 and trs80 and
(as user of) these new 486box...
you know even just the formula for a loop (not
solenoid) that does not get crazy---have looked long and hard--me no find---except someware was one
but had temperature and many other factors in it
----make my eyes strain--break my brain--me no
mathametition----ther has to be something someware
like l=area(square inch)*number of turns squared/....
that is balpark-not order of magnetude off like me spelling----somthing simple for gauge of wire, diameter,#of turns,in infinate space(infan.permiability).....
If sameone has a circuit in mind, email me the frequency of the unit and the capacitor value used to tune the existing coil. From that we can determine the coil inductance for use is planning other coil sizes.

Here is a nice applet I found online for designing coils. Might be just what the doctor ordered.

This one was off by almost a factor of 10 for a 25cm coil... I think it is probably valid for a different dimension ratio, as are most of these specialized coil calculators.
