I'm interested in building a coil for my whites machine, a small one. Has anyone had any luck doing this? Anyone know if there's any circuitry in the coil itself, or know the impedance, etc. of the coils? Thanks!

For a start you can look up White's patent # 4293816 on the US Patent Office web site, http://www.uspto.gov

This may not exactly match any of the coils they are selling today but it gives you some basic information that would be helpful in building your own.

There is a capacitor across the transmit winding that tunes it to 6592 Hz.

Thanks Robert, that was helpful. Unfortunately I couldn't get the images to display, but I'll try again with a different computer later.

Looks like it's time to start ripping a coil apart and looking at stuff :)

Jeff,
Check out my past postings on Carl's site. Try Goldmaster mods May 2, 2001. All that you need is there schematic and picture of the 10" concentric coil. Look at all the postings for that date. Don't rip into your coil. You will need it as a reference later.
