While strolling through the childrens department of my local Sav-On Drug

store, I came upon a smaller version of the Fisher Price Rock-a-Stack

plastic torus forms.

They have the brand name "Gerber" and are very similar to the Fisher-Price

toroids we have been discussing. There were about 6 in this set. They were

smaller in "winding cross-section" than the Fisher-Price toroids and are

about 1" or so. They were priced at around $4.50 per set.

In some parts of the country Sav-On Drug stores are called "OSCO Drugs".

This is the first time I have seen this product so it may be new .

Some of you are concerned about the properties of the plastic used to make

your forms. I can only say that properties such as dielectric constant,

hydroscopic absorption and such do not affect the performance of your

magnetometer sensor if you are using distilled water for your "magnetic

fluid". If however, you are using a fluild such as methal alcohol, kerosene,

charcoal starter or other "solvents", then you have another problem and

should look at using glass containers in a solenoid configuration.

Special thanks to Patrick Duffy and all of you for making this forum the

success that it is.
