World War Two diamond cache
Goldfinger:
Does anyone here remember the story about a guy from the USA who was told a story about a satchel of large uncut diamonds being lost in a foxhole during WW2 outside some little town in Germany? He did the research and after hours and hours of research and hours of looking - he finally found it. The question I have is - Was the German Gov aware of the search and subsequent find at the time it happened? That was an amazing recovery.

Amazing story, I remember watching it on the TV. Can't remember though about the legalities of the recovery. It was neat that even the blown up trees and the holes were still there as he remembered them after all those years.

That's the one even though I never read it. I was just curious if the Gov was aware what was going on at the time.

I understand the recovery was done quitely..they guys that were involved had to go several times and were watched.
I also understand they were raw dimonds and had been taken from those that had been taken to KZ's..hence the name "Blood Stones"

I know they didn't go around and brag about what they were doing so I wonder how the word got out?
