That's Huge!!!!  Clapp

That one sure had to get your heart pounding. Mine's going just looking at it.

I've always wanted to go to Australia to prospect for gold. Hopefully one of these
years I'll get down there.

Good Luck in "09!
Mike

PS. If anyone knows who the figure is on the charm, please post it here. I've seen the figure before, but not sure if it's an ancient Greek, Turkish or Indian god.

Hello Dobbie, this is a great looking find! I would say it loosk more like an Egypt God to me. Looks very nice!

Regards,

Christian

Hi Christian,  I used the Minelab GPX4500, it is their latest Gold machine. The nugget was 20" deep, the last 13" was in rock. I picked up a total of 20 ounces mostly in small pieces but some was in rock and had to be crushed then panned out.
Thanks for your interest.  Regards, Brian

Hello Brian,

despite this being a huge nugget, 20'' is veryimpressive! Has there been much improvement in teh GPX 4500 over the older models?

Regards,

Christian

The last gold detector I had was the GP Extreme, Minelab had developed three upgrades, 3,000, 3500, and the 4,000. before this model so I cant comment on the gradual improvement.
I found the 4500 was a huge upgrade from my previous detector, it is very quiet and the threshold very stable. Although I have a couple of larger coils I was using a small 10" x 5" eliptical coil at the time, the depth was excellent.

I made the decision to upgrade this time as I am unsure of how things will plan out for future detecting, age is a deciding factor ... I will be having a new hip and a new knee this year.

Regards, Brian

The gold charm looks Hittite.  In Z. Sitchen books he has some of these old pictures from Sumeria, representing the gods that came to Earth long ago.
