I am a blacksmith and if anyone finds or runs across a good anvil in there adventures I might be interested. I am not a collector but am always looking for a bigger and better anvil.

Here is a pic of one of my anvils.

That's a nice one.  Used to be a blacksmith near me years ago and i remember after he passed away they took his anvil and a nice forge to the scrap yard No no!. I've often wished I had that anvil, just for general use.

A lot of old blacksmithing tools have went to the scrapyard. Here in MS you used to be able to carry scrap to the yard and they would weigh you on the way in and the way out too see what they owed you, you could pick-up things and it would be like trading pound for pound. My friend went one day saw a large anvil and a "Little Giant" power hammer laying on the scrap heap, they will not let you take anything now,pre-bought by_____, goes stright to the rail car.

My moto is "you can't have too many anvils"......They are better than gold. Their value never goes down and they are hard to steal!!!.  I have two american farm style. a 78 lb and a 110 lb. and will buy them anytime I see one at a good price.  I use them from time to time on my metal projects. Blacksmithing and metal detecting are complemnetary hobbies. I find large pieces of iron and steel with my MD that I use in my blacksmith projects and I make  digging tools that I use in MD with my forge.  Right now I'm working a site turning up old railroad iron. It has interesting shapes and sizes that suggest projects. My last project was a hand pump. I found it in a plowed field but it was missing the handle. A few weeks later I found a handle to a stillson pipe wrench. Went to the forge and the picture is the results. The only bad thing is I went back to the plowed field a month later and found the pump handle with the MD.gambol

nice work, I especially like the bottle opener with the forked end. Have you ever made a spoon by hammering it into a stump or block of lead with a pall pien?
