To Jim: That's a Japanese Army Cavalery Saber which had been introduced around 1890 first and been used till WWII

To Steve: Yes! Indeed there a swords which will bear information in regard of their previous owner. The more famous the owner, the more famous the sword  Smiley

Regards,

Christian

Hello Jim,

isn't it crazy how many nations and countries where it war during WWII?

At least it's good that your grandfather returned home safe.

Best wishes,

Christian

Oh! Of course I was expecting this question  Smiley

Unfortunately the price for this type of sword is not as high as one might expect. In general around $150.00 - $300.00. If sold directly to a collector or at a local auction more towarss $300.00 on eBay more towards $150.00.

So I would personally recommend to rather keep it as a memory of your grandfather.

Best wishes,

Christian
