I had found a bunch of old nails, that came from a hotel from around the 1830's.  I was told that I could get a good deal of money off of them.  They have a lot of rust, or some kind of residue on them because they were in a fire.  But some of them are in mint condition almost.  I would like someone to please tell me what to do with them.  And thank you.

Only thing I can think of is go to FleaBay and see what is selling.

Let me know what you find.   I hunt old ghost and mining camps and have left piles of them behind. Violent

I have found a goldmine of them, and I had looked around and they have been selling for $5....each!! I already have over fifty, and I had only dug a sizable hole while I found them and had put hundreds back!! I am definitely going back for them, and the site is a good one thanks.  I'm trying to find a price list for them, but can't find it yet.

After looking around, I found out that they are Rosehead square nails.  The kind that I found are made circa 1820 to 1900.  So they are very old, and I wouldn't doubt it if they were around 1830's.  I'm going to restore them, which I figure would be the best thing to do.

Are you talking about the cleaning method, right? Sorry I'm not quite familiar with that term but I'm guessing that's what your talking about.  If not, sorry for the wrong perception.

Yes!   Light current via battery charger, Stainless steal  to object to be cleaned.

Knocks off the rust most well.
