Many businesses print million dollar bills. They are sold as novelties, and do not assert that they are legal tender. The Federal Reserve has declared them legal to print or own and does not consider them counterfeit because no genuine million dollar bill exists or ever has existed.

The image is small, but that appears to be a 1934 series $100,000.00 bill.
The $100,000 bill was released only as a Gold Certificate in the 1934 series. It featured Woodrow Wilson on the Front and a gold/red back that said $100,000. Private ownership of these notes is forbidden, and none are reported to be in private hands, but there is one on display at the Smithsonian Museum of American History.
These were only used as bank to bank transfer instruments, and are extremely rare. If this note is real and not a forgery, it would likely be worth 10x more than it's $100,000.00 face value due to it's numismatic value. If this note is real and not a forgery, it could also land you in jail because it's illegal for an individual to posess one.
I wouldn't suggest going to a bank and trying to get change for it. Find a reputable antique bill dealer and let him research it for you.

Rational Observer, not saying I don't believe you, but how do you arrive at that conclusion? As Seldom said, the pictures are too small to see any of the details that would need to be checked unless there is a glaring problem with the bill.
Since you have a very clear opinion on the bill, would you be kind enough to share with the rest of us how you reached that conclusion and what in the two pictures supports your stand?
And don't say that the fact that an individual has possession of it automatically makes it a counterfeit. There are ways an individual could have come into possession of a genuine bill even if owning it is illegal.

BA, I tend to agree based on the fact that you can't see or examine the note but only on that point. I'd wager that the odds are millions to one that the note is genuine. They were not ever released to the public and they were only ever circulated between 10 or so banks in the US for a limited number of years. They were impractical and not necessary. That caused them to be dropped from use rather quickly. For someone to make a copy that would fool the Fed, they'd have to first have a genuine sample. Thus, these notes are probably someone's idea of what they'd look like rather than counterfeit. By law, a copy, even a poor one, is a counterfeit so unless these notes are truly genuine, they are indeed counterfeit.
If they are not true copies of a real banknote, then at the very least they are instruments of fraud. Either way, anyone with half a brain would stay away. You have better odds of winning Lotto. I know. The odds are longer but the return is far better. If that note was genuine, you'd have to pay collector's value for it. Maybe a million dollars. And it would be worth a million dollars for quite a while. With Lotto, a single dollar can turn into many millions. Longer odds, but better return if you win.

That's why I think the tiny images that were put up are pictures of this bill. It's very unique in it's design, and there's not any other like it that I'm aware of. I seriously doubt the OP actually saw an original...

GD, I'm squarely in the camp of believing it is counterfeit for the same reasons you and BigWater lay out.....I just would have appreciated RO's response more if he had shared his reasoning.....that way others could learn, too.
