Hello Avgustus ,
Welcome to the forum, In many cases You can keep these firearms, as long as You have the apporate paperwork, Here in the United States for example there is what is called a curio & relics License issuded by ATF ( alcohol tobacco & Firearms) which cost 30.00
for 3 years and under this lic. there is a list of firarms that you can purchase as a collector. Most WW2 weapons are on this lic. Including a variety of Machine Guns. This lic however dose not allow you to buy and sell like a regular firarms dealer. This licence only allows you to collect said firearms, For your own collection. the good side to this is that you can obtain certain firarms at a considerable discount, if purchased, the downfall to having this licence is that You are subject to the same scrunity as a regular firarms dealer. which means that ATF
can enter your property where such lic is issuded and arms are stored, anytime day or night without a warrrent to inspect your records and arms.
There is a few other ways you can have these fully automatic weapons leagly,
one is by having the weapon turned into what is called a Dwat( Which makes the weapon only good as a wall hanger. by usally wealding the bolt closed and a rod welded in place in the barrel. there are severl other ways the firearm can be made this way. It sepends on whats on ATF's Mind at the time. another way if You wish to restore said weapon if its found in relic condition is to place what is called a dummy reciever which makes it impossible to chamber ammunition to fire. and finally in some states you can own a fully automatic weapon, As long as the state itself has no restrictions and You have a federal Licence to Own a Class3 Weapon
( MachineGun) and you have paid all fee's including the Machinegun tax stamp for each indivudal machingun. which last i knew was 75.00. the only Machinegun that does not fall into this catigory in the united states is a gattling gun. Most guns if found in relic conditon are ok to own, with the exception of some major cities here which certain guns are banned ie, New York City, and the entire state of califorina has huge gun ban list. I hope this helps somewhat.
anyone needing any further info please feel free to ask me.. Best Wishes ,,,Rob
if anyone

I have a great find of 2 old colt handguns.  It wasnt with my metal detector...but i found them at a garage sale a couple years ago in Sitka Alaska.  I was walking through this very old house looking at some old tools....in a large trunk i found not 1 but 2 Colt model 1878 45 cal double action pistols.  The owner walked up to me and asked if i was interested in the handguns...of course i was...he walked into the back of the house and came out with a pair of handcuffs and a badge.  He said it all belonged to his great uncle who was a deputy US marshal in Kansas.  I think i paid $150.00 for everything.  They are now proudly displayed in a shadow box in my home.

Steve

HI Det_Sgt.
That is a very nice find that you got on the colt pistols!!! 78 double action pistols are rare to find these days! and beacuse they are colts ( they primary weapon of that peroid) they are very valueable not to metion the double action. Do the weapons happen to have consecutive serial numbers? You can also write colt firearms and they will do a search for a small fee and give you all the information to whom those guns were orgionally sold to.
would love to see some pics of them I happen to love old colt pistols.,,Best Wishes ,,,Rob

Today I found a  Crossman bb pistol. It is a heavy thing made of cast metal and it got my heart pumping until I got the dirt cleaned off and saw the word Crossman.  Sad

Hello Chym,
Im sorry for the really late reply But I have been away due to illness.
your rifle is really interesting from the pics! Dose this rifle have any markings
at all or hall marks? Just from what I can see this is not considered a fowling
piece. I would love to see more detailed pictures if you can get them. also
your weapon is worth more than the average fowling piece. You Have what appears to be inlay and other items on the stock I would need to see these close up with the stock for a better evaluation. but a rough estamate from what I have seen, I would give a very conservitive estamate of aprox 1,500-2.000
cold hard cash. However it has to be sold in and under the right conditions.
this is a great item Id really like to see ,more of it if there is anything I can do to help you please feel free to contact me at anytime. Best Wishes....Rob

Thank you for reply, I hope you are feeling better.  Here are a few more pictures.  I had the writing translated and it says who made
it but I have mislaid the transcript.  I will post it if I can find it.  Your help is greatly appreciated.  Thank you, Chym
