In what decade revolvers first appeared on the market?

Hello Everyone.

I have a question about revolvers?

In what year revolvers first appeared on the market? Not flintlock revolvers but early French percussion revolvers?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I recall that the first revolvers I heard of were Colt Walkers that were issued to the Texas Rangers in the 1830s or thereabouts?  At least they were the first ones I know of that were in common manufacture.  Onus

The 1837 Colt Paterson was the first technically viable revolver as well as the first full production revolver. Prior to it the pepper box style was the repeating pistol of choice if you wanted to fire more than two shots without reloading.
The Colt Walker Dragoon was a follow on design brought about when Captain Samuel Walker of the Texas Rangers approached Samuel Colt about building a revolver in a larger caliber than the .36 Caliber Paterson to be used by his Rangers. The resulting gun designed with input from Captain Walker Was the 1st Model Dragoon or Colt Walker Dragoon.
