W.P. Jones Shotgun

(1/1)

tjlongeway:
I have a double barrel shotgun with original case.
very old but in good condition.

I believe the company actually closed in 1935 and most of the Whittall Street part of the Gunquarter was demolished in the 1960?s, so I think the building is no longer there.

Will attempt to post a pic.

William P. Jones Gun & Rifle Manufacturer,
25, Whittall Street,
(St.Mary's Square)
Birmingham.

any information on this would be appreciated

Sincerely,
T.J.

William P. Jones Best 12 Gauge, Manufactured by William P. Jones between 1897 & 1904 (the gunsmith who invented the try gun), this English Best has some features not commonly found on English shotguns i.e. scalloped receiver and side clips; intermingled with classic English design. The receiver is tastefully engraved with a game scene and fine floral scroll background. The stock is finely figured walnut with Prince of Whales grip, extended tang and splinter forearm with Anson release. This fine example of an English Best has been completely refurbished by Heritage Guns and was London reproofed in 2004 for 70mm nitro cartridges. This shotgun has been thoroughly researched and comes with a leather bound "companion" with a complete history of the shotgun including: previous owners, all patents that are exhibited, gunsmithing work, etc. Condition is 98% refurbished.
