I was fortunate enough to be in the right place at the right time again recently and found this beautiful 1836 gold half eagle on a South Florida beach along with other older finds left over from the 1830s Seminole indian wars.
Found using my Sovereign GT with the 10 inch search coil, the stuff of beach hunting dreams.
HH Gary

If Gold is where you find it, then I need to start looking somewhere else.

Great find Gary ... seems the harder you work, the more good luck you have.

Hello Gary,

Congrats on the Gold Coin Find!

Probably a recent loss for someone. It's a real beauty and a great find man!  Great

It's surely not often that one would find a coin in that condition on the beach. I suspect that this coin was either inside a bezel-setting of a mans big rope necklace or maybe a Key Fob trinket for ones BMW car keys, or even an investment purchase coin that someone lost while sitting or frolicking around the beach, especially when you consider the location in South Florida, there are those with the money to burn to buy coins and have them in a shirt pocket or even a holder that was in there pocket, and this one made its way being lost in the sand. The condition is awesome, no wear or movement scratches from the sand or surf that one would see on a Gold piece that's been on the beach for awhile.

Keep up the awesome work mate, your finds are great to see. Makes me want to move to Miami and start sweeping the beaches where the wealthy people hang out & party.  Smiley

Cheers & Congratulations,
Jim

Man OH Man, I would wig out if I found one like that.

Yea, I agree.    New Drop.    That coin was not in the sand too long.
