It's hard to believe that it took 39 yrs to get the body out that cave. What a shame.

problem is people get disoriented and desperate when they run out of air and end up off the path I hear. He could have swum in some small hidden crevice trying to find his way out.

Very few divers go off the rope I doubt so he had to wait till someone stumbled upon him. Poor guy, I can imagine he was totally excited to make that dive.

Hi Guys ! Cave and overhead, wreck diving very dangerous business ! I have been diving few times in beautiful sink hole / cave in South Africa called Wondergat - total 13 fatalities , including twins on one dive and very experienced instructor ! Be very careful ! Simon.
