I have that unit and like it alot . seems a little tough on batteries I think....But I have found cool stuff on dry and wet sand  and in the salt water

good news [great]i live in south texas,about 50 miles from gulf of mexico.if you turn the freq. controller for depth to the right for higher pitch it increases the khz's for gold right?--------james

 freq knob re-tunes the sensitivity to a selected material with out losing it depth towards that selected
material turnning the freq back from a higher position will not result in a loss of depth the more clockwise
the freq knob the more sensitive towards low conductive metals such as small gold
