Go Up Go Down

I have been thinking awhile now about trying to obtain diver certification.    The problem is that I'm not real sure how to go about it.  I have seen some online courses offered for the "bookwork" end of things but not sure if that would be the best route to go.  The online "bookwork" would work great for my scheduling but then I'm caught with finishing the certification.  I'm currently trying to find a dive shop in my area for possible information and/or help.  So far no luck.  I know that Celina Ohio has divers on the fire department because of grand lake st. Mary's being near but i haven't been able to speak to any of them yet for information.

Any of you divers have any ideas or suggestions to help?

I just thought it would be something new to learn and maybe even be able to volunteer if a diver were needed in my area, or an extra diver were needed.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.

check with any local dive shops, if you are having trouble make it a point to talk to the fire dept dive team some of them have members who are also scuba instructors and if not they should be able to hook you up with a instructor in your area.  The other option is to take a vacation to  Florida there are dive shops all over there and the water is warm all year, you can take a fast track or a private course and be a certified open water diver in about 4 days.  I know some instructors down there and could recomend one if thats what you decide to do.  send me a PM or a e mail if you would like any more info.  Smiley

Toolboxdiver,

Thanks for the input.  I'll keep snooping around town here and see if i can find a member of the fire dept. dive team as well as other ideas that you mentioned.

Thanks again.

Thanks for the reply to the PM it was very informative.  So far so good.  Haven't found anything very close to me yet but plan on checking with the fire dept. and local college to see if i might find some information there.  With the cold weather coming on in my area i thought this would be a good time to do my research so that maybe by warm weather next year i could be diving with my detector if the opportunity arose.

Thanks again for all the help and if I have any other questions or problems I'll be sure to look you up.
