If I read this right it states you cant detect between the dunes the beach and the low water mark?  But how about after the low water mark which is shallow water?  I have heard of guys who live in Florida detecting in shallow water on other forums and finding stuff too?

Cornelius:
You are reading it wrongly . YOU CAN DETECT BETWEEN THE FOOT OF THE DUNES UP TO THE LOW WATER MARK .   Cornelius

Cornelius, I did a search of the Florida Statutes and the US Statutes and I didn't come up with anything about metal detecting or artifact collecting or recreational use of beaches or coastlines. I would like to read the statuate. Where can I find it? :)

You got that right alan hassell, crap on all the "rules" and search down into the sea...But don't get caught! I stay out of federally protected sites...but come on, why can't someone water hunt along that Florida coastline...Oh, yeah...some treasure salvager's right to keep you and I from finding some of that Spanish Gallean treasure I suppose. Poot on them! Let some regular detector weilding folks find a few coins, etc.
