Hi sammygirl. "the coin line" is that place where the actions of the tides cause all of the coins to be moved too.
The way to see if your beach has a coin line is to zig zag, (VVVVVV), up and down the beach from the high water line down to the sea, after you have done the bit of beach that interests you, look back to see if you have a line of "filled in" holes, -- if you have, and they are near enough in a straight line, then that's your coin line and you can go back along it to collect the rest of the goodies.
 ;D ;D ;D

Hi deep digger . I am using my xp adx250 on the beach . Its ok on the dry sand and the damp but if i go anywhere near the black stuff it goes beserk on me no matter how much i lower the sense. I got the 1236x2 as well with the 10" coil and it does an ok job on the beach but to be honest if you want a great machine i would go for the sovereign you would be hard pushed to beat it unless you get a p.i machine. Hope this has helped .Malc.

This is wrong, mate. The coins don't get moved by the tides on the beach. That is what moves them in the water during storms, etc. On the beach, the coins are found in a strip of area that coincides with where the people are on the sand. You can either look at the condition of the sand to determine that area or you can zig zag as you suggest but the tide does nothing to coins on the dry beaches.

Malc:
None of the coins i found were on the dry beach they were all below the high tide line . I understand that if a coin or ring is lost in the dry sand it will stay where it is because it does'nt have the tide to move it. But thank you for pointing out my mistake G.D. :-[

GoldDigger1950:
That's different. I had the notion that you were talking about the beach rather than the wet sand. My favorite spot is that place where the beach sand in the water drifts off and there is a drop of about 10 inches where the wave action deposits all the heavy stuff. Normally, that's about 10 to 20 yards into the water. It's like the riffles in a sluice or gold pan. All the heavy stuff accumulates there and you can pull 10 to 50 rings an hour from that zone. And bucket loads of coins, too.

GoldDigger1950:
Discriminate? What's that?

I always hunt in the all metal mode. The last time I used the discriminate was by accident. I gave it up years ago.
