Go Up Go Down

Hello, I'm new here but have been metal detecting for many years. We now live on a section of Mexico's coast that was rich in pirate activity and natural wrecks from storms. The Mantaceros is still coughing up treasures as well as a few other well known wrecks nearby. But, there are a lot of popular beaches within 15 minutes where tourists regularly lose jewelry. I want a detector that I can dive with but still is a good land machine. Is there such an animal that won't break the bank?

Garrett AT Pro may be the one.    Not a Deep Diver machine.     10ft?

My AT Pro works well in wet sand at the beach and in the heavy soils of western PA.  You might consider it.

I can recommend the Fisher CZ-21. If you plan on usingit mainly in the (salt)water you would however want to look into a pulse induction machine.

Probably the CZ21, would work for you, and they are affordable, there are several but the 21  would more than likely be the best buy Smiley

I will second the CZ21 and Excalibur II suggestions. The AT PRO is fine but not really at ease on salt water, despite the ground balance. Kind of same average results than a Fisher GoldbugPro,for instance.

If those beaches are poor in iron targets, you could buy a Garrett Sea Hubter MK II too, it's a PI unit and does only have limited discrimination. Nails will always come through. Larger ferrous targets too. Maybe a later investment as a backup for cleaner patches...

You should also take the time to learn how to read the beach. Most important skill of this part of the hobby.

HH & Good Luck !

I will agree with Ridge Runner, The Beach hunter 300 is a very good detector in salt water and on land. You can run it in all metal and still see the iron, foil and coins. Read the reviews on it you can Google all of the detectors and see what would work for you.  Good Luck
