I originally put this on in 2009. After about 6-7 years of use I finally cracked the edge of the plastic bowl. It might have been dried out after all the salt water use, and in sometimes cold water of 40 degrees. It will still work, but it is time for me to make another one. As I said, in the dollar stores, buy a large bowl with (in my case 1/8" holes) 1/2" holes and then tie wrap a foam float ring to to it. Then tie wrap a magnet to the bottom of it. The long float foam thing is in the kids section of any store like Wal-mart, costs about a buck or two, and most dollar stores will have the large plastic bowl for a buck or two. After 6+ years I well got my moneys worth. I might buy a bigger plastic tub instead this time, and drill 1/8" holes in the bottom and 1/2" holes part way up  of the sides and see how it works. Still shouldn't cost more than a few bucks, but then I could easily hold 2 scoops of sand in it. I will put some pictures when I make the next one. Good huntin, John

Those sound pretty good. I made my water scoop out of an old US Army Stainless steel ice scoop that i drilled holes in and added a handle. My floating sifter is made from 2" Natural Gas pipe. I work at a utility and can use the fusion irons to melt it together. I then added the mesh and attached it by weaving stainless steel wire aroundthe pipe.
