Go Up Go Down

I hit a beach in Bradenton two years ago. I met another T-hunter that was also on vacation. Together(one evening), we found $17 in clad, a few room keys, cheap watch, several pairs of sunglasses, and a few small metal toys. Didn't find anything very old.............but we had a great time.

I surely will!I just read on another board about metal detecting on Sarasota Beaches as this person is from Sarasota.I am waiting for a response. There are also other beaches close by,so that is the place if you want to metal detect on the beaches.

Go Up Go Down

I did Clearwater beach on vacation a few years back. It's a beautiful beach and very popular which means lots of targets (including junk of course). There were several other detectorists there but they were friendly and I enjoyed my few days there.

I brought home a couple of silver rings and a 14k with emeralds and diamonds...whats not to love? Wish I could go back again.

Go Up Go Down

Go at low tide and wade out as far as you can. The breakwater line at low tide is the sweet spot on most all beaches, use a long handled sand scoop. Go during and just after any beach nourishment. I was at one where folks were right down where the pipes were refilling the beach. Some found gold coins and others artifacts as the sand laid out on the beach. We got some nice shells. Go after any heavy surf. Sometimes the barrier islands will have new channels and small cuts for you to check out.  The locals sweep the beaches regularly, so work slow and dig deep. There are a few spots where gold coins wash up on the beach sometimes. Fort Desoto north beach is a good producer, stop by the ranger hut for a detector slip. Most any beach you can get on is as good as another really. Have fun and good luck.
