Go Up Go Down

Just a little post of my 1st day out with the Garrett Infinium LS.  Detecting

Only 2 clad coins, a 2010 Canadian Quarter and a 1974 Canadian Penny.

Lots of bottle tops, loud signals, the rusty ones sound a bit warbly on the low part of the high-low tone. Lots of pulltabs, really scratchy on low part of high-low tone. The spoon nearly deafened me!  Shocked
The spoon is marked stainless steel, made in China. But its rusting in the spoon bowl, so I question the stainless part!  No no!

All in all a good 2hr hunt, now both arms are SORE and my upper back is aching. But I'll get stronger!  Wise

GL & HH all!!

Hi  Neighbor , I am out in abbotsford!  That spoon looks like it could come in handy  for digging . I have been wanting to make the trip over to white rock ....soon.    Have you tried any of the grassy areas ?  also have you had any problems with  detecting in your area?

No, today was my first day detecting in over 6 years. I only had 2hrs today so I tried to do as much beach as I could. Havn't been on grass area yet, but I have some parks lined up soon I hope.

As for problems, you mean permissions?  Police ??

Yes  that's the word i was looking for, I have heard so many conflicting stories . I would like to try the area just before the pier  where the people tan . could be a good ring area.....

As for parks  i have found many coins in the wood  chips in playgrounds  (early morning or a rainy day to avoid the helpers)  Only thing is you have to dig everything cause our coins  are considered junk  :Smiley  . I have found many loonies and toonies  digging junk signals.

Long as its a public beach your fine. Private beach, you'd need the owners permission. Of course any Regional Park beach you have to get a special permit. Stanley Park or Victoria Park....forget it. They hate detectorists now, cause of ones who DON'T replace their plugs correctly, or leave holes and tear up the sod.  Angry

For city parks, ALWAYS e-mail the park comissioners office and ask permission nicely. Usually they will tell you to go right ahead, but to stay OFF athletic park/fields. People have damaged sprinkler systems around here going to those. And make sure you treat the sod nicely and replace all the dirt in the hole.

I like to be so careful about it that you cant tell I was there. A really good video on proper plug digging is at

Great video, i find i don,t need to cut plugs because i am only looking for surface coins/jewelry . i am getting really good at removing  pull tabs.  the pin pointer is a must have to avoid large holes
