Question: Need some input on a shallow water Metal Detector for salt water.

Most likely will search now more than in 3 feet of water are less.
Light surf, and wet sand.

Have a Garrett Ace 250 now.
Like the simplicity of use, would like to follow that ease of use.

Also how deep a signal will this units push in depth in wet sand are salt water?

Tesoro Sand Shark, For salt water it will find target's 8 inche's and deeper very good at hitting small gold target's

Altough I havent tried one right now I think the new waterproof Garrettt AT Pro is the best bang for the buck.  It is very light and can be used on land and in the water and has a screen read out as long as your in shallow water so you can see it to read it.

Of course if you want to spend around a $1,000.00 then I would say the Excal ll  or beachhunter300 both of which I have owned and used for years

I love the Minelab Excalibur II for any water search.  It takes some getting used to, to recognize the different sounds (Tony Diana has a great CD on Eartraining for the Excal); however, after using it a bit you can oftentimes predict what you are about to dig.  I keep the discrimination low, so tend to dig the pull tabs (as they sound similar to a gold ring) but treat the extra digging as a surf recovery training.  The Excal also gives you the flexibility to use in under water.  A bit pricey, but well worth the money.
