Go Up Go Down

This was one of the four rings that I found on March 16th.on one of our Queensland beaches.Weight 8.95 grams & at least 18ct.
I found it after a big storm up near the high tide mark up among a very rocky beach.
Also found in the same area where a number of old English coins ... 1880 threepence, 1881 sixpence & a 1855 shilling, all with clear readable dates.

I have had it looked at by a few local jewelers & all agree that the unusual diamond cuts are "Old European diamond cut" .. This cutting style began to disappear around the turn of the nineteenth century.

So all where in agreement that the ring is probably at least a 100 years old & the diamonds are of an excellent quality. They all suggested that I get it professionally valued.
None of them where happy too send such a possible valuable ring away either by post or courier & put himself or his company at risk & suggested that I contact the Valuers myself re shipping or perhaps travel & visit them in person.

As I live a few hundred miles from the nearest city with a certified valuer this may eventually be the only safe option for me.
Hoping to get the ring valued later this week.

These are the four rings I mentioned earlier... before & after cleaning.

The 18ct wedding band weighs 7 grams..

The ring is not marked but it easily passes the 18k acid test .. 22k fails.

I am having the ring valued tomorrow (10th) so will post results then..

I always felt that 10k would be incredible so I'm certainly not complaining.

So it just goes to show that it's out there .. right place, right time. :

Thanks for all your interest & support,

Meggie ...
