Check out the new water detector.  It's an "All Terrain" unit, hence the name, AT.

Waiting on mine now. I live by a lake that has a lot of activity during the summer. Lately I have only been able to hunt when they lower the water level from time to time. I found several rings during this past summer and wany to get a little deeper. NOW I hope to be able to find even more with the AT Pro.

I have owned 3 different Garrett detectors and have never been able to get a whole lot of depth from any of them. That's the only reason I have not ordered one of these yet. I just wonder if this unit will be any better on depth.

I have two Garrett machines, both of which get me incredible depth. Which models do you have?

Golddigger1950, I currently own a Garrett Ultra GTA 500 and a Grandmaster hunter CXIII, I sold an ADS 7 about 15 years ago. My Fisher 1236X finds coins much deeper than these two Garretts and my little old Tesoro Silver Sabre II matches both of them and it cost me far less money. I like the way the Garretts are built and the way the meter is very accurate, I just don't see the depth there. Now that's just my opinion of course.

I can't say why you had depth issues but I can assure you that mine outperform modern detectors hands down.

They work very nicely in wet sand.

Great in fresh water, I tried mine out in a stream a few days ago just to see how it reacted.  Kept the same settings as I was using with the sand and rocks on the dry and noticed no difference in performance. Unfortunately only found junk though....

For saltwater - it does work but it is noisy.  Murmurs and beeps going on constantly. By selecting a couple of numbers below on the ground balance and reducing the sensitivity the murmurs and beeps are quieter then a target strike (Pro mode selected).  You will know when the coil passes over a target.  I tested it by throwing a coin and some junk into 2 feet of water.  I have no hesitation in turning the sensitivity down as it will still pick up targets 10" and under even with only 2 bars showing.

Now I have only had the AT Pro for 8 days and it is my first detector so the above may not be worth much but had to change my batteries tonight and estimate that I have clocked between 20 & 30hrs with it.

White's Classic 5 ID, Garrett Sea Hunter MK II

One of my hunting partners has the AT PRO and loves the depth it achieves. He has grid hunted parks and gone back with the AT PRO and picks up silver and clad coins he seems to have missed with his other detectors.

He will hunt the same area I just hunted and picks up deep coins I did not even get a whisper on with my White's Classic 5 ID.
