Hello everyone,

Just trying to get some info about Salt water units. I am thinking about getting one and unsure about which one I should dive into. Does enyone have a salt water detector? What are the better units? reasons why. Thanks for your help.

The Garrett Sea Hunter is a PI unit which doesn't care if the water is salt or fresh.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

The E.Trac is good on the salt or in the surf but keep the box out of the water or else. The TDI is the same but is very good especially with a large Razorback coil fitted.
Still want the Sea Hunter 11 though.

Yes the Garrett Sea Hunter II with the bigger coil is a great MD for the price.  When the smoke clears, you can get one for 7 and change, including the bigger coil!

Fisher CZs, Gold Bug 1&2, Whites Dual Field

I have been using a tag-team approach on the beach and in the water. I use my Fisher CZ-20 or CZ-21 in the trashy areas because they have discrimination and my White's Dual Field for the black sand beaches or relatively non-trashy areas. Both will go underwater (250' for the CZ and 100' for the DF). I have had a great deal of success with this approach and hope you will too! I mostly work salt water beaches, but the combo also works for freash water. The only bad thing about the CZ is that it operates in "salt" mode all the time, so you will lose a little depth in fresh water. Good luck!
