Its not about death or injury or destruction and if it was somewhere other that the U.S. would you be worried ?

The storm affected more than just the US.  Canada, Haiti and Carribean also had deaths due to this storm, so the answer is yes, I guess I would be worried.

Back from Ocean City beach and also south Delaware beach. No one was allowed to hunt on the Fenwick island beach . I did see the beach and it looked like nothing happened. Also Bethnay beach looked as if nothing happened. I think the news plays the storms up bigger in some areas. Ocean city beach was cleaned up in two days. I didnt find much some coins and a toe ring. The city pused all the sand back in place so it looked as if nothing had happened. Some board walk damage most damage was on the bay side. More hype again in this area. I now New york and NJ got the real deal with fires and deaths and my prayers go out to them.

guys i got to say this post has turned my off to this site. I thought you guys where metal detector folks. I posts of 18 people died and morbid things. When would it be ok to go dectect the beach 2 months after the storm?

It's fine to detect all of the time even during the storm. The discussion was the problem, not the fact that you want to take advantage of the storm. Being cavalier about people dying is not something we want to see here on this site.

By the way, the south facing beaches had serious erosion with up to 8 feet of sand piled up on the streets along the coast. The east facing beaches had very little damage. That was the nature of this particular storm.

The death toll is an inevitable fact of any severe storm but to make it seem trivial or wish a storm on yourself so you can go detecting was the wrong turn this thread took. Your comments were in good taste and relevant to beach hunting. Don't be turned off on this site. Just be as respectful about the death and destruction as you can be while discussing the other side of things. Just like you did.

I'll second what GD said and do be assured that we are serious about detecting.

What is this the Chinese state or something?

The guy made it clear that he was saddened by the death toll and destruction yet on the bright side it could also bring good detecting conditions - AND YOU CENSOR HIM FOR THAT?

Dude where you get off with the name calling and judging the way we handle things. I suggest you go look at some treasure threads and let us worry about things like this.

It's a far cry from that. He was being insensitive towards the deaths. That's what got him in to trouble. He insisted on being right instead of just being quiet about that one side of the issue.

Now here's what I believe. I believe you are either the same guy (Rich N), or he put you up to this. For the sake of argument, I'll let it slide but if you argue with any moderator one more time, it will be YOU who will become moderated. Every post from that point forward will require approval. Is this China? No. Is this THunting.com? Yes.
