20 musket balls from a few of my recent beach hunts using the Sovereign GT & Excalibur.  The musket balls are from the 1830s Seminole indian wars.

Pretty impressive collection.   We could hunt out here for a long time before we came up with an equivalent number (even hunting close to some of the old settlements).

Do you know, when these balls were made? And who made it?

Yeah, and if the ball didn't kill you outright, you still had a good chance of being just as dead from the infection caused when it drug all your filthy clothes, etc into the wound, or from shock or loss of blood if they amputated your shattered limb to keep the infection from killing you.

Gary another remarkable find! That is a hot site. I wish I knew where it is. I've been hunting in Florida for 2 years now and found one mini but no round shot musket ball. I'm surprised those did not sink into the sand as heavy as they are. Although One of the collectors in our club came up with a 10 lb lump of assorted lead sinkers from a "honey hole" on Clearwater Beach. They were cemented together with corrosion like they had been in the same place for a long time. I've found "honey holes" myself but they  yielded fishing tackle, junk, shell and a few clad. If you need help with this site let me know. I would be happy to make the trip down from Tampa for a weekend of hunting. gambol

Congrats on the musketball finds, looks like you may have a good area there that could allow you to make some other good finds.

Cheers,
Jim
