Go Up Go Down

A new PinPointer from Treasure Products.  It is an automatic, waterproof, pulse induction pinpointer.  Just arrived today and will be testing this "Fish B-Good" stick in the water this morning.  It says it is good to 100' but we will be testing this unit to no lower than 60'.  9v battery fits in the handle with the pressure fitting keeping the water out.

First impression:  This thing is a fish bonker!  A true "Fish-B Good" stick!  Very solid, well constructed and comfortable in your hand.  Nice yellow strap, and turning on and off....very cool

First power up:  At first I was unsure about the tilt on and off mech.  I mean how will I know it's on when using it?  will it accidentally turn on when I'm diving ect.

Nope...after tryin this on land.. I like the tilt on and off..no buttons to F&%K with ... if you dive you know how hard it is to feel anything through neoprene gloves.  this was designed by a diver.. no doubt..  The vibration indication and size.. Very strong and Big!... No Doubt designed by a "Female" diver

Seriously.. surprisingly strong vibration.. Hide this from your wife..because she might take up the hobby and go looking where there should be no metal!

To turn on you hold it upright for three flashed from the light indicator.. and then it vibrates and flashed again to tell you it's on..  To turn it off, you repeat and it gives you a different set of signals (clear indication of on or off)

PI so it picks up any metal..the whole head is the detector.  Goes off at about 1/2 inch easy and consistent...

But the real test should be in the water this AM...

I will keep you posted!

25 feet yesterday for depth max.

Not quite sure if I like the positive balance on the buoyancy.  Getting to depth, it was clipped to my BC and would float up and keep turning on and off.. slightly annoying.

If the manufacturer is listening.. make a Velcro strap arm clip that would keep it still and in easy reach.  If this was your primary MD, and it's big enough to be, this is not much of a problem because you have it in your hand the whole time.  Well if you only goal is to find surface change and light rings at 1 inch of top silt... sure.  But if you have a primary MD (mine being the Garrett Seahunter II)  It is annoying to have this thing floating around your face turning on and off.

It would be better if the head was negative buoyant and the handle was "+", then at least it would not turn on and off all the time if you didn't have it in your hand.
I still think that the Velcro arm clip idea would solve that in a flash.

That was my only complaint!

I liked the big detection head.  Easily moves through silt and you can feel not only the vibration, you can feel it hit any solid object.

The Led stays illuminated (when it is on) and flashes as well as vibrates when you are "On Target"  Very easy to see and feel underwater.

The tilt on and off.... I am a convert! Very easy to Use!

I would say a solid 8 out of 10  (I think with everything there is always room for improvement)

Price tag is a bit high...but anything with a pressure rating of 100' is going to be

If there is a test that someone would like to to try...besides testing the max depth that is..give me a page

How deep ( underground ) would you say it'll pick up an average target ? I bet it'd make a good pin-pointer to use at the beach in the wet and dry sand. Wouldn't have to worry about it getting messed up by water or salt.

Price tag is about south of 150

It detects coins (Canadian) inch and a half to 2 inches max .  The nice thing is it give you strength of field as you get closer to the target... very nice and easy to use pinpointer.
