Good luck with finding a good pair of waders. If you get neoprene, be careful you don't get the kind where they stitched the knee reinforcing patch right through the neoprene layer to the inside...they will leak for sure at that stitching. Try to find the better ones where the stitching attaches only through the outer layer of fabric.

I have given up on waders since the boots size is impossible to match with the inseam. If somebody could tell me where I can find a boots size 10 with an inseam of 29/30.Tried Sims which is very expensive and will only do it with neoprene soft boots.

Pahunter,

I have waders (for flyfishing) but am thinking of a wet suit. I don't know if they make partial wet suits (from waist or chest down) and I am unfamiliar about foot coverings. Are they one-piece? Can they be worn without shoes/boots? Can I get one that is not "wet" (I would prefer to be dry). Are they warm (I would be metal detecting near the shore line up to my thighs during winter months in southern France)? Thanks for your input. Coloma Gold

All Wet suites that I know of come as Tops and Bottoms.   Booties are available.

Dry suits are like a Jump Suit.   One Peace.  Close up from the front or back. Never seen a two peace dry suit.

Waders have killed people before.    Get them swamped in a wave and your waring a boat anchor.  Fall in a hole, same thing.  Getting back on your feet with 80lbs of water in your pants is NO easy task.

Homefire,

Being a flyfisherman, I agree with you re: the dangers of waders but there are inflatable devices available to keep you from drowning. However, that is just not the solution for me. I think a wet suit would be better. It sounds like you know more about them that I... Let me ask you some questions. 1) If I get a jumpsuit (dry suit), do they normally come with booties?  2) If I get a wet suit, it is my understanding that you really are 'wet' but that you warm up after a bit (I'm not sure this is what I want). I am trying to get something that will keep me warm in the cooler season and yet doesn't get me too hot in the summer season.. Perhaps I need one of each?? Drysuit,  with booties, in the winter and the wetsuit bottoms/booties for summer use.  Let me know what you think..Coloma Gold

Dry suites I've seen only have a collar around the ankle.

Boots are separate.
