I have been searching the Southern California beaches with my Wife and Daughter. We have been using the older Fisher CZ detectors with the 10 1/2" coils and finding a lot of stuff the PI people have been leaving for us. I tried my Gold Bug, but there is just too much garbage out there. Oceanside got their beach cleaner fixed and are using it at the Harbor and on the South side of the Pier. Anybody know about the beaches in Orange County? I have heard some great things about the Minelab detectors, but have yet to see one in action.

Hi
Minelab sovereign gt or elite, iff you take a excalibur ll, you can do the beach in and out off the water.
The fisher cz is a good choice to, the older cz 20 if you go in to the sea.
Kind regarts
Gerrit

One of the Main advantages with using a minelab sovereign over other units is that you have a tone id.I good signal will be high pitched on down to a very dull sound.

I used to use Pi units but got rid of them.

They go deep  but even in sand, DIGGING everything gets old fast.

I use the E.Trac or the Explorer on the beach with the Whites TDI for the sand which i have not used yet. But will.
I will be getting a Sea Hunter in a couple of weeks along with the new Technetics G2 , will be interesting to see what they are like.
