I'm not sure..just bought an MPX, and, as of now, it 's been nothing but a loud PAIN.  Good luck in picking the right machine.

sparke BH's is a good starting detector but if you stay with hunting you will be looking for better machine in a few months. As we say everyday here get the best detector you can afford.
I have 2 BH's I picked up used and I use them from time to time, I like them in soft sand.

Good Luck

I used a tracker IV/pioneer 101 for a while before i upgraded, and it is a fine machine for the beginner, not the deepest, but it does what it is supposed to and has a pretty low learning curve.

Like cani said upgrade. I bet more BH's are sold then any other detector and most get put in the closet are the garage and never used more then 1 or 2 times. If you get the BHer and upgrade in a few months cool you got back-up.
