Looking for advice on an upgrade from the ACE250 or second machine that has a display
and not cost an arm or a leg.

The ACE250 is a very good starter machine. For an upgrade, I would look at a used
White's XLT or DFX. These detectors have come down in price and are a good buy for
the money.
Good Luck
Tom

Depends on your budget...AND Mr Charles Garrett 's advice !

He is indeed favouring "that second detector" providing the second one should be different. ( and then of course complementary to the first.)

How different depends on your hunting.

Another system? (No motion, PI, multifrequeny...)

But the best choice is...another frequency.

The DFX here above is a good option, as it runs two frequencies, but it might be off budget.

Look at the X-TERRA 305, you can expand it later by buying otrher coils that work at other frequencies.

The Fisher F5 is a good idea too, if you really enjoy digital units.

The Tesoro DeLeon is an excellent detetor too, running a higher freq. than your ACE.

BUT...a good way of getting "another" detector could also be NO SCREEN !

I know, Iknow, digital is useful, but some "classic" detectors are stunningly good (better is a matter of pesronal opinion...) and combine good specs with good results in the field.

Some examples are ; Tesoro Silver Sabre or Cibola, some Fishers of the X series, or maybe a bargain on an older detector.

I just bought a Minelab Sovereign, making my digital Quattro a (very good) backup !

Tough choice !

Good luck !

WHATEVER DETECTOR YOU WANT TO UPGRADE TO GOT TO A REPUTIBLE DELARE WHERE YOU CAN TEST THE MACHINE. BUYING ONLINE IS ONLY GOOD IF YOU ARE SURE THE MACHINE SUITS YOUR NEEDS AND PERSONAL TASTE.

Thanks ,Zippo

I will go to a dealer for my next purchase.I have a few dealers in my area
that are well known.

I'm sure they will answer my questions and steer me in the right direction.
Thank you for your quick reply.

I'm shopping for my next detector, too.  For my area, I'm considering one that's better for gold nugget shooting.  So my only advice is to think about what kinds of targets you're searching for, and make your purchase based on those requirements.

BackAtcha is correct:
Decide what kind of hunting you are going to do the most and then
Look for a detector the is good for your area and your type of hunting.
If you go to a dealer and test the different units, try to buy the best you
can afford, this will save you money in the long run because you are not
constantly upgrading your unit.
Good Luck and happy Hunting.....
Tom
