Go Up Go Down

Hello, I just registered today and I've been wanting to metal detect since I was a kid.  I've searched older forum posts about beginner metal detectors (trying to save everybody here time) and from what I've read I'm thinking I will buy a Garrett ACE 250.  I'm not trying to ask what is the best detector for beginners, I know there are many factors including what you're looking for and just personal preferences.  But is there any reason I shouldn't get this detector?  Is it a well rounded machine for a beginner?  Thanks Smiley

The Ace 250 is a FINE starter machine, and will serve you well..
Not only is it a good "starter" machine, but it has decent depth and discrimination and will serve you VERY well.
A lot of people started with them, and stayed.
I, personally prefer the new White's coinmaster, but that's more brand loyalty as both machines are pretty much equal in my experience.

Garrett Ace 250 would definitely make my short list for anyone (beginner or otherwise) with a limited budget looking for a general purpose machine.

From watching folks I know who have 'em...I'd say the 250 is definitely a machine that lets you grow into it.
