Ok where do i start to find information on beach detecting. I cand do dry sand with my Fisher, but what about wet sand near water. Can i hunt there as well. Or do i need a water metal detector? What i have read looks as if most of the water finds are about 1 foot or more in the water.   :Smiley

Welcome Tamitoys from the Blue Mountains of northeastern Oregon!  Welcome

One of the best sources of information on beach and sand hunting I have found is "Treasure Recovery From Sand & Sea" by Charles Garrett.  Lots of information.  Also, look up beach hunting on the search function on this site in the upper left hand corner.  Good Luck, and have fun!   Detecting Detecting

Water machines are the best choice if you are going to be hunting in a foot of water. Non water machines might work but are not designed for this role. On dunk and you can potentially ruin your machine. If you are hunting wet sand your fisher might and might not work especially if your hunting on a salt water beach (ocean), salt is a mineral and your machine might false a lot as it detects it.
Lakes are somewhat different than salt beaches and your fisher will probably do good there. but like I said don't trip and fall in the water
the machine could get ruined. Good luck and happy hunting!

I see you have a White's Surf Master and a MXT, why are you not using either of them Huh?Huh?
The MXT works in both wet or dry beach sand and the coil is waterproof so you can use it in the water also just dont get the box wet, but then you have the surf master for water so Im not sure why your asking such a question.
