The treasure of the Gilt Dragon

I've just published a book called the 'Lost White Tribes of Australia Part 1: 1656 The First Settlement of Australia'
It is mainly about the survivors of the Gilt Dragon who eventually formed an inland settlement.

I'm not really after any treasure as I think the captain exaggerated how much treasure he had rescued from the ship in order to keep the Dutch interested in rescuing them. If there is any treasure it would  most likely be close to Ledge Point. I doubt that hungry and thirsty men would be lugging chests full of gold and silver across 12 - 15 kilometres of scrub.

My main interest is searching for artefacts at the site of the lost settlement. I've never done any metal detecting before. However, I have purchased a detector and plan to go out this year to re-investigate the site.

What is the most basic advice that an experienced detector could give a novice like me.

My Self, I would Start at the Current or Newist Settlement.

Back track to the  Wreck Site if you could.

My Guess is any Goodies would be Close to the the Wreck Site or Between the Two?
