trying to work out which one now

Go Up Go Down

Hi, I need to check known sites to see if there are any tombs below the surface so we can get a grant to do a full dig. There is no 'trash' 100's of miles out in the desert, so need the most sensitive machine I can find that will tell me if there is gold/silver 4/5m below. What do people recommend? As a standard detector will not go 4m, yet every one says the long range machines are a waist of time and I know the locations so do not need to cover large areas of ground, I just need to check 3/4m down for large gold/sliver objects. Any advice would be most welcome.

thanks for taking the time. So what your saying is, if there is something down there, it needs to be big, like 1m sq to show up on a normal detector? This is my question? What machine do I need to spot something that will be big I guess, but not 1m SQUARE! Something that is maybe 50 grams of gold that is 4m down. There will be no trash at all, as the site is out in the middle of the Sahara and not visited for 1000's of years.

Any help would be most greatfull as I need to buy the right machine before I leave for Egypt in a week or two. Thanks

I don't see that happening sorry. But look at the top of the line Tesoro or Garrett machines

One of our users from Geece is selling a nice Garrett outfit including a two coil attachment for deep seeking.

You could take a ferry over and save postage.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

The problem is not the detector that cant send the field down to your object, it's the object that is too small to send a signal back to your detector (Eddi currents) but if you are detecting in the desert the sand will shift all you need is to wait. Best of luck to you.

You need a Pulse type detector with a 2ft or 3ft or 4ft head on it for large items. Doubt you could go 4 feet deep unless the item is as big as a 2 or 3 ft square piece of iron gold item etc. Radar is the way to go and it won't be a 1000$ dollars probably 4000$. But a good used or new pulse will do wonders and can be had for a 1000$ or less sometimes.I always have my places dowsed but then thats another story.
