If you ask me it's a complete miss understanding of the PI technology not to mention that there was no research done by shortribs regarding the answer given by him (a total load of rubbish) here are some facts 1) detection depth will depend on ground mineralization. 2) depending on the type of metal detection depth will vary. 3) coil size will play a major role in detection depth 4) The frequency ( This is a miss conception as it is PPS Pulse per second) will play a major role not only in the detection depth for non ferrous metals but also in the construction of the detector and it's energy requirements. 5) is it a mono coil detector or a dual coil detector (Important to know if you will be detecting for gold) There must be another 10 points that I did not mention about the PI but this is not a tutorial about the PI just a few points that I thought that I'd mention. If any one is interested in the PI let me tell you that there is a lot of work to be done in that sector, Fun but frustrating too and at the end of the day VERY rewarding.

All the best

twobox over 25 feet

That is only for Items as big as a Car, on a 50 gram piece of gold the best a machine would see a piece that size is 18 inches to 2 and a half feet. Maybe 3 feet with the very latest Machines,
