the ace 250 is a good little machine for the price ---its very popular and easy to use ---I would get the small sniper coil package rather than the bigger coil package --- the smaller coil s better for trashy spots and has a smaller area thus its good at pin pointing . --- overall depth range is about 8 to 10 inches on a typical coin sized object -- but that varys of course due to soil and other conditions .

Check out this offer.
I think for beginners this detector is adapted.

Its very cheap, so you can test this hobby out, before you invest a lot of money.

Hi,
They sell those over here in "Maplin".
They are not very good at all.
Better to stick with a known brand Garrett, tesoro, whites etc.

BH Scout, Prizm IV

I started out on the cheap with a Bounty Hunter Scout. (less than $200).  It served me well and I was very satisfied with it.  It had no bells or whistles but still did the job for a beginner.
I moved up to a White's Prizm IV for around $400.  From what I have read, it is comparable to the Ace 250 except the price.  (the Garrett Ace 250 goes for around $225).
I guess it all depends on your budget and what you're looking for for features (LCD, notch discrimination, tone ID, depth indicator etc.)

I had Prizm IV too,but the Ace-250's tracking speed is faster (for half the $) Ive used both and the Prizm is sluggish compared to the Ace. Wink
