 In my opinion there are two very dangerous things about MD firstly is to find a real treasure have a heart attack and die then there is also the possibility of getting caught in a rain storm get pneumonia and die come to think about it you could get hit by a car on the way to the local park get maimed now that?s the worst that I can think of. See I live in a country where landmines hand grenades and arm cashes are a reality so when I dig I dig with prudence especially when it?s a large object AND RADIOACTIVE WASTE where in the world are you hunting?

only if don't stop for the cliff, make friends with a rattler snake, cut your finger on a tin can, forget to bring food, water, first aid and prep -H. Maybe get hypnotized by the sound and forget who you are are where you are from, need to wear a dog tag and have an RF-ID  chip planted in you and one for your detector, in case you get lost, your wife can beacon in on you. Be sure to to it on just before you go nuts and hurt yourself.
No harm can be done by the sound or the frequencies involved as they are not high enough to penetrate the body like cell phones do. Good clean hobby just use common sense and take food water etc with you. A good cell phone and or ham radio too will be of help, if you need help.

I carry a 50 Caliber Thompson-Center muzzleloader on a sling and a 44 Cal Remington pistol.   

Here in NM, we have LARGE CRITTERS and small ones but we watch for the BIG ones 1st. And I DON'T wear headphones in the field just for that reason. A lot of homesteads here are in the mountains and I Don't want a bear or bobcat, coyote looking at me like I'm the main course on the menu. For snakes, I wear snake chaps.
