Used to own an auberti 44/40 double action revolver with a 7 inch barrel, whack some hollow points in the girl, and she woulda stopped a Rhino in it's tracks. Two in the chest of a bear and it would be goodnight, so who ever made the handgun remark, sorry to correct yah but it's like detectors you just have to use the right machine for the job.

I have read that the laws in Eastern Europe are tough and that there is a lot of gangs doing scheduled sights tooled up, its not as much fun having to watch your back but if you find stuff it could be Byzantine, Roman or other very old civilizations. They did not leave those countries , they were forced out and left a hell of a lot of loot behind.

ROFL believe me mate, things ain't to different here. I seriously need to get out and find " She who must be obeyed " a nice piece of jewelry. So MD'ing gets recognised as a worthwhile pursuit in this house. I was told a fairly reliable story the other week about a local crim, who apparently threw a large bag of golden loot, from a local railway bridge back in the late 70's. Story came from a cop, who assured me it wasn't just a rumor. Apparently they recovered a fair bit of it. But never got it all, I know the location just have to sneak onto railway property to find it.

I carry an M-50 whenever I go out.  j/k

When I lived in Alaska, the rule was to always save the last bullet for yourself.  Also, yes, bears can move way faster than you can think.

Personal experiences:
Severe heat exhaustion.  stopped sweating, dizzy, heart beating 5 times a second.. not fun
Detecting buddy got into quick sand up to his chest.  I don't think he could have gotten out.
Bit by a spider on shoulder.  This was very painful.  Thought I hit a wasp nest.
Snakes, never bit but hear them slither away in the leaves/bushes.
Prospecing in the Mojave desert.. the mine shafts go straight down.  Once, Had to walk back to camp in the black of night with no lights what so ever.
 Found a scorpion in my boot one morning, just like the movies..
 The most dangerous thing is walking into someones cash crop like I did in California. lol

The most dangerous thing here is snakes, and black bears and like, kayak pirate finding someones growing spot. I think that I will carry my desert eagle 50 cal when I start going out for long over night trips, just to be safe.  Club
