Hello.  I am thinking about getting a detector and giving this a shot.  I can't find any online help in regards to my local area City, County, State detecting laws.  I have contacted TVA about their permit and they have put this on the shelf due to some damages at some sites due to some sorry @#$ individuals.  Anyway, I would like to know if its 'legal' to hunt in places like school yards, tot lots, ball fields, city - county parks, etc.. here in Hamilton County.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as would any website links (although, I think I've searched them all Smiley).

Howitzer

Howitzer, welcome to the forum from the Blue Mountains of northeastern Oregon!   Welcome   There are plenty of people from Tennessee on here who should be able to easily answer your questions.  There is a book available from booksellers, maybe amazon.com, and on e-bay titled "Treasure Laws of the United States" by R.W. "Doc" Grimm.  There is a copy of the Tennessee State Park Rules and Regulations.  They are pretty vague and very general in nature.  Your best bet is some of the Tennessee guys on here speaking up.   Good luck!

Howitzer Hello and Welcome to Thunting. here in Tennessee , u can't hunt any fed parks or state parks or natural areas etc, with out first recieving written permission, ( Good Luck with that one) City and County parks, need to check with local goverments, schools are usually ok if done on weekends or evening when no students are present.  local city or county play grounds check with local govt. best to ask for and get permission to hunt private lands.

TVA is in the process of redoing or whatever of thier policy and permission slips.

Some times it's easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. although that can sometimes get your equipment impounded also.

where ever you hunt it's best to have permission , and Written permission is always best.

Again Welcome to Thunting.
