I'm in a place, Central/north Alabama,  where I might find old Bullets, and maybe other stuff from the Civil war.

Do we sell that stuff? On Ebay? Or some other place.
Should I turn it over to the State or a Museum?

I'm looking forward to some Winter Detecting.

Donating to big main stream museums is a bad idea in my opinion stuff disappears into a black hole never to be seen again.  Small local museums will study and display your finds plus making friends with local historians is always a good thing.

Some Good Points there Seldom.

Places like the Smithsonian have things that have Never seen the light of day for 70 and more years squirreled away on some drawer some place.

I donated some good stuff to the local Library. Some of it never made the shelves.
We do have a Civil War Museum near my place. I'll go walk through it and then ask. See what he says.
When you think of the Humongus number of Mini-balls fired in those campaigns, a guy'd ought to find something out there. Undecided  Even me! Smiley

Giving is aways a good idea, local is best, small means they can use it. Happy hunting
