Could someone break down the basics of the metal detector, coils, readings etc.  I'm still confused as to how to use my detector, I have (2) Whites MXT, and a MineLab SD2200.  Are there pros and cons about these detectors that I should be aware of.  I know some of you are very loyal to certain brands, but unbiased advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Could you be a bit more specific in your question. Are you asking about the really basic stuff like when you turn it on and want to find metal or are you asking about the fine tuning of your detectors to optimize performance?

I'm probably not the only one scratching his head over your question.

It's all about that moment when metal that hasn't seen the light of day for generations frees itself from the soil and presents itself to me.

It sounds like you have Not read the owner manuel very much---I just bought the V-3 And I had to read and read over and over but all at once things started to fall in place---Get out with the MXT first and hunt it will help a lot in learning---The basics are hard to explain with words so get out and learn that and it will help a lot on what you don't know---If you can get a partner will help a lot
