:'( Hello. Does anybody know how to repair my Compass detector? It won't turn on, no sounds no smells, just dead as a door knob. Ugh. It takes 3 9V batteries, and kills two of them in just a couple of hours. (The third stays good, just kills 2 of the batteries). I'm a rookie, anybody can chat this a bit? Thanks Smedley

Oh, man, you couldn't have picked a worse spot. Normally, I know people everywhere who can help with troubleshooting but not in that area. Eugene52 is up in Oregon.

It's just so difficult to troubleshoot a problem long distance by forum posts.

Two batteries for the Detection circuit and one for Audio.  Have you checked out the Battery Wires ?  Connectors.   Photo's are good.

Yes, I meant Gold Scanner Pro...  :-

Posted on: March 07, 2016, 08:52:24 pmHello thanks for the response. Yes, I've checked out the battery connections - no obvious shorts, no corrosion, doesn't smell bad or burned inside. Drains 2 of the 3 batteries pow, pretty fast. I imagine it's the 2 batteries for the detection circuit... just a guess.

Posted on: March 07, 2016, 08:56:03 pmI don't know of any detector repair guys around here either. Good gold and historical sites for detecting though in my area. ...
