Go Up Go Down

Just wondering if any detectors will work in water. Also looking fore maybe a small one, like a handheld one if there is any, not the long one people use on land if possible. Im going to Lake Huron in a few days, and me and a couple of friends usually look for rocks when we go swimming never found anything amazing, but would like too.

Ive never used a metal detector before but am intrigued by the idea of it.

Welcome from Texas. Also, would a waterproof pinpointer (small and handheld) be anything that would work? Good luck and happy hunting.

The good news is most of the metal detectors designed for underwater are adjustable so you can shorten them when diving or lengthen them if you want to use them in the surf or on the beach.    But follow poptop's advice......that's the where you'll find the answers you are looking for here on THunting.com

All of White's metal detectors come with water proof coils but unless you get an under water machine which are a little expensive all the rest of them you can not get the box wet, but you can search in about 3 feet of water, most of the jewelry people lose are within 3 feet of shore in shallow water, one of the better all purpose machines would be the MXT for wet or dry beach sand and also works well in heavy mineralized soil and priced only at $660, but depending on your budget  the water proof machines such as the Surfmaster would be $735 the same price as the MXT PRO which is not water proof, also the other water proof machine would be the Beach Hunter for $800. Hope this information helps??? All members here can get my dealer discounts on any new with warranty White's machines.
