Wet grass is bad about that.   It's the minerals and water causing the issue.   Try turning down the sensitivity a bit.

Go Up Go Down

this was done in the dry weather and it had not rained in quite awhile
did turn sensitivity down also and still got the beeping as i hit the blade of grass but just not as strong
garrett suggested to make sure wire from coil was on upper side of coil and did that but still getting it
if this is a common problem i can live with that i was just trying to make sure i didnt have a coil problem or something along that line

I agree with homefire. Turn the sensitivity down a bit. I have had an Ace 250 and it did the same. Have had a couple of friends with the AT Pro complain about this. The CSI 250 is just an Ace 250 made for law enforcement and instead of coins and jewelry on the face, it has things like shell casings and lead but the insides are the same as an Ace 250.  Smiley

I'm more familiar with analog detectors than the computerized ones.  Back in the '70's and 80's it was not unusual for the coils to be very sensitive to grass, especially when it was wet.  It doesn't have to be raining or wet for dew to condense on the blades of grass, so they could be damp, even in a dry spell.

I love detecting after people that Hunt by Numbers.  TID numbers are not Absolute.  Gold Rings and Pull tabs show about the same.  I've had folks tell me in uncertain turns that something was silver because there detector said so.  LOL.

Touching the grass might be the issue. Also, the biggest villain for false readings is foil in the form of gum wrappers. Go over it one way, it beeps. Go over in another way, silence. When you try to dig it up, you sometimes split it and then lose it entirely. Others have given advice about wet grass and I do agree but not for the Ace 250. That should be immune to that because it automatically balances the circuitry.

Something that could cause noise is thes. Be sure your coil wire is tightly clipped to the shaft. Use plastic wire ties for that. If it moves at all, it could be the source of your noise.

GD is absolutely right about the coil wire being tight along the shaft.  Loose movement along the wire can cause interference.   Also correct are the people who have talked about the sensitivity...  sometimes it just needs to be turned down.
