got a bounty hunter quick silver for my b-day, not exactly what i wanted but seems to do pretty good. its really more detector than i need right now so there is room to grow in it. have a few hours messing with it have found 2 handfulls of bolts and nails and junk, 82 cents in dimes and pennies and 1 peso. all this with the detector set at minimum depth in a stone driveway, good thing to get those nails outta there.seems easier to learn it in the rocks like that.

1st time out with it, pass from right to left beep beep and left to right beep beep, ok its set shallow so i dig both places and nothing refill holes move up slightly make 3 passes and get 6 beeps dig a little in both places and break out the pin pointer and nothing. For 1 hour i did this and didnt find anything and i was getting a repeatable signal.
What went wrong you ask, well if you metal detect with your work boots on and your work boots are steel toe you need to keep the detector as far away from your feet as possible or you will wind up tilling yer whole yard over, roflmao.
stupidity rued the day

Your find a lot of stuff so you know the machine is working. As you use it more you will get better at listening and start to hear the subtle differences that will lead to the better finds...

Boots...thats funny. My good freind borrowed my detector one time as his wife had lost her ring. He was so mad, calling me and saying this thing is going off all the time??? I went. It was'nt going off on me till I found the ring.   My freinds foot had gotten smashed and had it rebuilt with some kind a metal. Can only wear oversized tennis shoes. Never thought twice about it.... Grin

Interesting!  Got a question for you, though.  I just had my R hip replaced for the fifth time and have about 10 lbs of steel/titanium in my pelvis.  I have a DFX-300 (stock coil).  Would the metal in my hip cause a sound when I sweep right?!?  I seemed to be getting a lot of hits on that side last time I was out.  Just wondering?
